Waste Projects

Where does the future lie for the various waste projects which stand at different stages of procurement and contract management?

Undoubtedly many of the projects post PPP / PFI have to re-assess their procurement strategy in light of the local governments tightening grip on finance - and 2013 European targets loom. Procurement discussions will also have to include the waste 'evolution' discussion presented by Institute of Civil Engineers, and fit with the regional government strategies which continually evolve.

For some of the up and running PFI’s who are now getting to grips with the contract management phase, market forces cannot be ignored, especially as the ‘payment mechanisms’ were designed in better times and do not always allow enough lee-way. Much scrutiny is taking place of change and variation clauses in contracts, and all the time the question of 'can we make any additional savings?' arises.

These are just some of the discussions which are taking place amongst the waste professionals currently, and are topically covered in the various programmes which Right Outcomes will be running over the coming year.
